Part of our remit at online casino.ie is to keep our readers up to date with the latest online casino news, and this month we feel duty bound to look at the fortunes of one of the biggest online casino operators and their plans for the future. Over recent years Ladbrokes have fallen behind their major rivals, such as William Hill and Bet365 in terms of their online gambling operations, but they now appear to have taken the first steps towards addressing that situation. One of the reasons for the success of William Hill in this area has been their joint venture with the online casino software specialist Playtech, but the recent sale of Playtech’s share in that venture has freed the software company to seek other customers. It appears that Ladbrokes are likely to be the first beneficiaries of this freedom. Reports suggest that Playtech are to be handed the task of running Ladbrokes online casino and bingo operations as part of a partnership agreement soon to be announced. Ladbrokes are also relaunching their online sports betting website and Playtech are expected to provide help in this area as well as the casino games operations. Richard Glynn, Ladbrokes’ chief executive is clearly determined to get the company’s online operations moving again and  although his recent attempts to agree a takeover of Sportingbet and 888 Holdings failed, an agreement with the leading online casino software supplier will undoubtedly be a move in the right direction. In January of course Ladbrokes did succeed in acquiring Betdag, the online betting exchange, and despite their problems with the online gambling side of the business their shares continue to perform well and the company is currently valued at £2.1 billion.
