Robin Hood lives again

In today’s world of greed and materialism it is good to know that Robin Hood is alive and well in the casinos of Las Vegas. Robin Hood as we all know was a renegade who stole money from the rich to give to the poor people of Nottingham but this modern day Robin who calls himself Robin Hood 702 (the 702 refers to the postal code of Las Vegas) does not steal the money but wins it the casino and then gives the winnings to a selected person or persons. As with the legend, little is known about the gambler who prefers to avoid the limelight except that he is white, a non drinker and dresses in jeans and t shirts; he is known in casino circles as a “whale” which is a term for high rollers who can win or lose huge sums in a night without breaking sweat. Robin has a web site in which he asks people to send in their stories of how they got into difficulties, he then sifts through them and if he finds one moving enough he helps. The only imitation is that the amount required must not exceed $50000. He recently decided to help the Kegler family from near Detroit Michigan who needed $35000 and he had them picked up and flown to Las Vegas where they stayed in a luxury suite all paid for by Robin. He then played Blackjack on their behalf to win the money they needed. Not all went smoothly however and he was losing hundreds of thousands of dollars before hitting a winning streak and recovering. When he had reached the target of $35000 profit he left the table and presented the chips to the Kegler family.

Robin is also known to have handed out $100 bills on the “strip” and has helped a lady from South Carolina by winning the $20000 she needed; he also offered to pay for a holiday for the crew of the Maersk Alabama, the ship attacked by Somali pirates in April.

“I am going to take the dark side associated with gambling and use it for good” he said.
