Following our report of September 16th which highlighted the deal done between “Dragonfish”, the Business to Business arm of 888.com and the US casino giant Harrahs we can now report another deal but this time in South Africa. Dragonfish has signed an agreement with Tsogo Sun Gaming Group (TSG), one of South Africa’s largest hotel and entertainment groups  who operate  seven land based casinos in the country. The deal will see a joint venture set up initially to provide a licensed online sportsbook betting service under the Tsogo Sun brand and then later develop into online casino, poker and bingo once the regulatory position is clearer. In our report of August 10th we explained that online gaming is still technically illegal in the country and 888.com are working hard to stay on the right side of legislation. As Dragonfish CEO Gabi Campos said “ This partnership is the first of many targeted at regulated markets where Dragonfish’s partners operate under local licenses and enjoy the benefits of such regulatory arrangement”. It seems that 888.com is expanding rapidly all over the globe as more widespread legislation comes into force.
