There are Poker players who enjoy a game for fun and then there are Poker players who make or try to make a living at playing the game. The very large majority are the fun players who dabble in the online casinos and have a lot of fun for very little outlay but for the serious players the highlight of the poker year has got to be the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the schedule for the 41st edition has just been announced by Harrah’s. The tournament will take place in the Rio Al Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas starting with registration on May 27th with the first game the following day and ending on July 17th 2010. In a major departure, the tournament will not start with a “HORSE” event for the “Chip Reese Trophy” but will be played as a 5 day $50,000 buy in 8 game mix called the “players Championship”. The game will feature Limit and No Limit Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or better, Seven Card Razz, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or better, Pot Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball. For HORSE enthusiasts there are still 3 day tournaments in the event line up for buy ins of $1500, $3000 or $10000. If all of that is a bit rich for you there are $550 buy in No Limit Hold’em tournaments every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the month of June. There really is something for everyone if you are a serious player. Although we do not yet have details we expect a number of our recommended casinos to be offering free places at the tables including travel and spending money so keep your eyes peeled on this site and we shall let you know what is going on.
