UIGEA Launch Date approaches

By admin on 2009-11-19 08:15:25

We have spoken in the past about the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and how the battle is still on to have it postponed until the issue can be discussed in detail but December 1st 2009 is the date on which the act is set to launch and with that in mind yet another online casino operator has decided to pull the plug on accepting US players. Golden Casino although not the first to pull out by any means is the latest to do so and there is speculation that others may follow before the deadline. The online casino operator has been subject to attacks on its payment processors causing financial losses and it believes that the government will continue to make life difficult. Existing account holders will not be forced to close their accounts but many of them are not willing to take the risk and have already started to withdraw their balance. The casino has assured all players that they will receive their balances although it may take a little longer than usual but have advised customers wishing to withdraw to do so before December 1st as after that date it may become more difficult. The battle to have the act postponed does not look likely to bear any fruit soon as it has yet to move past the committee stage.
