Tips for playing Let it Ride Poker

Let it Ride Poker is a very simple game to play as outlined in our “Casino Game Rules” section but there are some strategies that can be followed to increase your chances of winning. The game is the reverse of normal poker where you would expect to increase your stake as cards were turned but here you place all three stakes at the beginning and take them out as play progresses if you don’t like what you see; the strategy remains the same. Remember that you have to assess your odds of getting a hand of one pair of tens or better and also remember that each opportunity to withdraw your bet or let it ride is independent of any previous decision. In video poker, that can be played at virtually any online casino, an accepted strategy is to hold a single Jack or better in the hope of getting a pair on the turn but we would advise against that strategy in Let it Ride.

When only your three cards are visible you should only let your first bet ride if either:

1)    You already have a winning hand or,

2)    Three cards of the same suit in sequence except for 2,3,4 and A,2,3 (these combinations do not provide for two possible cards at each end so your chances are reduced). By having cards of the same suit and in sequence you have chances of winning with either a straight or a flush or if you are lucky a straight flush.

3)    Three cards of the same suit not completely in sequence but only missing one card but including at least one card that is ten or higher (eg: 7,8,10 or J,Q,A). You could play without the requirement for a ten or higher but having it increases your chances of getting a winning hand.

4)    Similarly, three cards of the same suit not completely in sequence but having only two missing cards (eg: 9,10, Q, A). In this case as you have two missing cards the recommendation is to have at least two cards with a value of ten or higher.

When one of the community cards is turned and there are 4 cards visible you should only let your second bet ride if either:

1)    You already have a winning hand.

2)    You have 4 cards of the same suit.

3)    Any four cards in sequence.

4)    Any four cards not completely in sequence but missing only one card BUT this is a slightly high risk strategy as there are only four cards that can give you a winning hand. To compensate for this we would recommend withdrawing your bet unless at least three of you cards are ten or better.

If this sounds a little difficult try it out for free first and make your own adjustments to create your own strategy. The best of luck.
