Paddy Power political bets

If you think you know what is going on in Irish politics you are better than we are but as usual Paddypower would like to offer you a selection of betting opportunities. First and foremost the question of when will the next General Election be? The bookmaker seems to think a snap election is a possibility by slashing odds for a 2009 election to 11/10 with 2010 at 2/1. Will the Green Party be gone before the end of the year? No says Paddypower at 8/11 with a yes at Evens. How about the party leader of Fianna Fáil after Brian Cowen? There are really only three contenders looking at the odds and they are Dermot Ahern at 11/8; Michael Martin at 2/1 or Brian Lenihan at 10/3, anybody else can be had at at least 14/1. If you are a Sinn Fein supporter or even if you are not, how many seats will they win at the next General Election? This is quite an open market with 8,9 or 10 being favoured. You can have 5/2 for 8 exactly or 5/2 for 9 or 10 with 6 or 7 going at 11/4 and 11 or 12 at 9/2. On the same theme, how many seats will “People before Profit” win? or the “Green Party” or the “Socialist Party”? For People before Profit you can have evens on one seat with 5/4 on zero and a big 4/1 on 2 seats. Green party seats are 5/4 on one, 9/4 on two and 7/2 on zero and Socialist Party evens on two , 10/3 on one, 4/1 on zero and 9/2 on three.
