Once again here at onlinecasino.ie our regular look at recent Irish online casino news concerns the seemingly endless problems being encountered by Ladbrokes. Apart from Paddy Power and the much smaller online casino operator All Irish casino, both of which are actually based in Ireland, Ladbrokes still has the biggest profile of the remaining online casino operators due to its substantial high street presence in the country. Last week the company announced another slump in their full year operating profits, down from £206million to £140million and accepted that once again that a failure in their digital performance was the main contributory factor. Richard Glynn the chief executive since 2010 appears likely to be given further time to turn their fortunes around and is hopeful that the launch of their new mobile gaming system, Mobenga will prove a positive influence on future performance. The main focus however will be their relatively new cooperation agreement with the extremely successful online casino software supplier Playtech. It is hoped that the success Playtech had with William Hill can be repeated with Ladbrokes and drive their digital performance forward. In fact it was Playtech which provided the best news for investors in the online casino and sports gambling sector last week. Playtech’s share price soared on the back of record profits and the announcement of a £100million special dividend for shareholders, rising 44p to 785p, also a record for the company. Clearly Playtech are a force to be reckoned with so let’s hope they can have an impact with Ladbrokes in the coming year.
