888 to enter the French Poker market

by admin on May 14, 2010, 7:30

The online casino operator 888 has announced a partnership with online gaming software producer Microgaming to offer online poker in France. The French online casino market which is still only operated by monopoly state owned companies is due to open up soon to outside interests and this is the first move in that direction although a partnership like this is a new departure. Mr Gigi Levy the CEO of 888 said “This deal marks a turning point in the industry with big networks collaborating in newly regulated markets to create a shared pool of liquidity, benefiting customers and assisting in rapidly generating large poker networks in each market,” while his counterpart at Microgaming Mr Roger Raatgever commented “ We are delighted to be working with 888 to deliver a poker solution to the French market. We look forward to combining our wealth of experience and knowledge to bring the highest global standards to the local market”.

France is still in the process of changing its laws to comply with EU legislation (in typically French fashion:- very slowly) but it is thought that Poker will be ahead of other casino games and we can expect 888 in particular to become active in other online casino  offerings in the future.
